How Strong, How Long?

'You are so strong.'

As if I had a choice.

As if letting my kids drift into adulthood without fighting for their rights and their future was an option.

I have been strong for 17 years.  Plus 14 years.  Plus 9 years.

Unless you subtract the times I wasn't.

The times when I hated myself for how I parented.

The times I steal for myself.

The times I am lazy.

The times I don't really like my kids.

The times I am an asshole to my kids.

Those times are probably counted at time and a half.

I think I must have a negative balance.

Bullying and Me

Bullying is when someone (the bully) does something to another person (the victim) to hurt him. Bullying might be hurting physically (hurting the body--like hitting or tripping someone) or hurting emotionally (making fun of someone to hurt their feelings or making them afraid.) Bullying is a way to control other people and makes the bully feel strong and powerful. It makes the victim feel powerless and afraid. Bullying is wrong no matter who does it. A bully can be someone you respect, even an adult, like a teacher. Physical bullying is when someone hurts you to make you do what they want. Another way to physically bully someone is to take their things and break them or not give them back. Some people may accidentally break your things, and that is just an accident. It's All In Your Mind

After weeks of severe behaviors, Paul and I have a bit of PTSD. Every outbreak of behavior seems to trigger the feeling of "OMG, here we go again." A couple days of screaming and biting (admittedly hours every day, but still not as bad as the end of December/first several weeks of January) and we were ready to call the doctor about more meds. Today is a little better. Hell, I was in a store a week ago and heard a child scream and broke out in a cold sweat. I almost started running to him. It wasn't my child. I was there alone. We are still in reaction mode, control mode. But still, in relative terms this week is not so bad (although no one who doesn't have a challenging child would see it this way.) But both my husband and I are still on edge. Waiting for the other shoe to drop.
